The Submarine That Vanished: The 2024 Disappearance of the KRI Nanggala’s Successor

 @Ritesh Gupta

In March 2024, a new Indonesian Navy submarine, meant to replace the ill-fated KRI Nanggala-402, mysteriously vanished during a training exercise in the Bali Sea. The incident shocked the world, as it eerily mirrored the disappearance of the original KRI Nanggala in April 2021. However, this time, no wreckage, no distress signals, and no oil slicks were found—it was as if the submarine had been swallowed by the ocean itself.

A Routine Dive That Went Wrong

The new submarine, temporarily named "Nanggala’s Successor", was undergoing deep-sea endurance tests in the same waters where its predecessor met a tragic fate in 2021. Just 30 minutes after submerging, the communication link was lost. Search and rescue teams were deployed immediately, but the vessel had disappeared without a trace.

The Eerie Connection to 2021’s Disaster

Three years earlier, KRI Nanggala-402 sank during a similar drill, later found split into three pieces at a depth of 850 meters. Many believed the ocean floor had become a graveyard for submarines, but in the 2024 incident, there was no wreckage to be found.

Possible Theories and Unanswered Questions

Was it a catastrophic implosion? But without any underwater explosion detected, this seems unlikely.

Was it secretly hijacked? Some theorists suggest a military cover-up or sabotage.

Did it enter an unknown deep-sea anomaly? The Bali Sea is home to mysterious underwater trenches where strange disappearances have been reported.

The Submarine That Disappeared Without a Trace

Unlike its predecessor, Nanggala’s Successor was never found. Despite sonar sweeps and international search efforts, the ocean remains silent. Did the deep sea consume it whole, or is there another force at play? The truth remains hidden beneath the waves.
